Seeking Alna's Next Representative for the Wiscasset Public Library

Dear Alna Neighbors,
After a rewarding three-year term, my time as Alna’s representative to the Wiscasset Public Library (WPL) Board of Trustees is coming to an end in January. We are now looking for an engaged community member to step into this role and ensure Alna continues to have a voice in our local library system.

What does the representative do? As the Alna representative, you serve as a bridge between our town and the library. The role involves:
  • Attending Board Meetings: Held once a month, with the exception of June, July, August,  to discuss library policy, budgeting, and programming.
  • Advocacy: Ensuring the library remains a vibrant resource for Alna, Edgecomb, Wiscasset, and Westport Island residents.
  • Community connection
Who should apply? We are simply looking for someone who:
  • Values the role of public libraries in our community.
  • Is organized and reliable.
  • Wants to give back to Alna in a meaningful, manageable way.
Serving in this position has been a great way to support a vital institution that provides everything from summer reading programs to engaging programs, a constant source of literary inspiration, all in a unique historical setting.

Interested? If you would like to learn more or are interested in this volunteer position, please reach out to the Alna Town Office at  alnaclerk@gmail.com or (207) 586-5313 to request my contact information. I'll be happy to share my experience.

Thank you for considering serving our town!

Best regards,
Abby Manahan, Outgoing Alna Representative, Wiscasset Public Library
