Property Tax Assistance Program
The Town of Alna is pleased to announce the launch of our Property Tax Assistance Program. This initiative is designed to provide financial relief to eligible residents by offering a reimbursement match of the State of Maine’s Property Tax Fairness Credit (PTFC).
If you meet the program criteria, the Town will provide a match of the rebate amount you received from the state, up to a maximum cap of $1,000.
Key Requirements for Eligibility
To qualify for the town’s matching reimbursement, applicants must:
Be Current on Taxes: You must have paid your current year’s property taxes in full. There cannot be any back taxes owed on the property at the time of application.
Residency: Have owned or rented a home in Alna for at least 10 years prior to the date of application. As a renter you must also be the property tax payer to qualify.
State Credit: Have filed Form 1040ME (including the Property Tax Fairness Credit) for the year 2025.
Homestead Exemption: If you are a homeowner, you must have applied for the Homestead Exemption.
How to Apply
The application form is included below. Please note that a signed Permission Form is also required so the Town can verify your credit amount directly with Maine Revenue Services.
Deadline: Applications must be submitted by October 15th.
