Alna Cemetery Corp Board Position Open
Greetings Alna residents and friends.
1/20/26 UPDATE:
Last week we sent out a note looking for someone or some people to join the board and we focused on one thing which was data base management. But it is much more than that because the cemetery is a huge part of Alna's history. Years ago, Beth Whitney's son did a lot of work logging in all the gravestones into a database and there are graves that go back to the Civil War, Spanish American War and onward. So, we really need volunteers who are interested in Alna's history to help us upgrade that list and add to it. As a board member, our commitments include: attending a few meetings a year to plan work to be done in the cemetery and we plant shrubs and trees as a group and do some annual cleanup and install and then take down the flags for the Veterans and just generally oversee the maintenance of the cemetery.
If you are a local history buff or new to town looking for a way to help, please reach out to us! Our annual meeting is coming up next month and we will send out a notice of location and time.
ORIGINAL NOTICE
The Alna Cemetery is a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation and we have a board of directors and a few at large members. We are looking for someone with a strength in database management to help keep track of grave plot sales and to help us create an easy to use list of each grave in our cemetery. It will likely be a 2 year project and we are hoping to have this role filled by a new Vice-President. Jon Luoma has been our VP for 5 years and he will stay on as an At-Large board member. We appreciate his service to the board.
We meet for our annual meeting in February and a meeting notice will be sent out to the Alna List.
If you have any interest in serving on this board and have skills in technology and data management, please contact me at Lhiestand@gmail.com or call me at 586-5214. It is not a requirement that you live in Alna to serve on this board.
